Posting to TikTok without giving anyone your password
Sooner or later someone else posts for you — an assistant, an agency, a tool. The question that decides how much you are risking is not who they are. It is what you hand over.
A password is not scoped to a task
You wanted someone to publish three videos. What a password grants is everything the account can do: posting, deleting, reading messages, changing the email and phone number attached to it. There is no version of a password that means “upload only”.
It is also shared, in the literal sense — once typed into someone else’s system it exists somewhere you cannot see, for as long as that system keeps it. Withdrawing it means changing it, which signs out every device and every other person who had it, including you.
And the account is the asset. Rebuilding a following is not a recoverable afternoon.
What an authorisation grants instead
The alternative is a consent screen on TikTok’s own site. You are already signed in there; the application asks for a named set of permissions; you approve or you do not. The password is never involved and never leaves TikTok.
What comes back is a token that does the specific things you agreed to and nothing else. It can be withdrawn from TikTok’s settings without changing your password, without affecting other connections, and without signing you out anywhere. Three properties a password does not have: it is limited, it is separable, and it is revocable.
One question tells you which you are getting
Where do I type my TikTok password? If the answer is “you don’t — we send you to TikTok”, the connection is an authorisation. If the answer is a field on someone else’s page, something will be signing in as you, and everything above applies.
The second question worth asking is what happens when you want out. An authorisation ends from TikTok’s side, by you, in a few seconds. Anything that requires asking someone to stop is not a revocation.
Automated sign-ins are their own risk
There is a second cost beyond exposure. A system signing in with your credentials looks, to the platform, like a sign-in that is not you — unfamiliar device, unfamiliar location, machine-timed behaviour. Detecting exactly that is what platform anti-abuse systems are for.
When it goes wrong it does not go wrong for the system. It goes wrong for the account.

Is it safe to give someone my TikTok login?

How do I tell whether a tool uses the official API?
Ask what happens when you connect an account. An API-based tool sends you to TikTok's own screen, you approve there, and you type nothing into the tool itself. If the tool asks for your TikTok username and password on its own page, it is signing in as you.
How do I revoke access later?
From TikTok, in the settings where authorised applications are listed — you remove the app and its access ends immediately, without touching your password or your other connections. In EasyDrop, disconnecting an account deletes the tokens we hold for it at the same time.
Does an authorised app see my direct messages?
It sees only what the permissions you granted allow. Publishing needs the ability to upload video and read basic profile information; it does not include reading messages. The consent screen lists what is being asked for before you approve it.
